I saw a post about self harm, what do I do?
If you spot someone at risk of self-injurious behavior, there are steps you can take.
First, we just want to say - thank you for taking a step toward helping another member of the community. Please take care of yourself and only do as much as you feel comfortable.
If you'd like our team to reach out to the individual, follow these steps:
- Visit their profile and tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner.
- Tap 'report user' and select 'self harm'
- Tell us about the origin of your concern— did you see something in a post? Did it come up in a private conversation? Please share as much as you feel comfortable.
- Tap 'submit'
To report a post, follow the same steps starting with the three dots in the top-right corner of their post.
Our team will contact this person and support them as best we can. Reports submitted like this will not result in any automatic moderation actions on the individual's content or account, and will be reviewed by our team daily.
If you prefer to reach out to them yourself, you can reference this list to find something local or send them the list directly. Here's a quick resource as well with tips on talking to and supporting someone who may be considering self-injurious behavior.
